at the Englewood Art Center
in Englewood Florida

The Hermitage Artist Retreat offers artists from all over the country an opportunity to come to Englewood and live and work at the Hermitage on Manasota Key to perfect their art. Sonja is from Milwaukee Wisconsin and got the opportunity to spend 6 weeks here at the hermitage this year

Sonja talked about her work to a group of about 25 people
at the Englewood Art Center on McCall Road on Thursday,
May 28, at about 10:30 in the morning

Each wall of the Englewood Art Center had a display of her photographs
and she spoke about her feelings towards capturing these images

The prints in this exhibition are all taken with a Hasselblad camera and the film is scanned and the images are digitally sent to an Epson Ink jet printer

Sonja gives a very professional and energetic talk

I was most impressed with these beautiful pictures of sharks teeth

The sharks teeth were collected from the beach in front of the Hermitage and then scanned on a fladbed scanner. These camera less images magnify the subtle details of the tiny worn teeth.

And keep in mind that the images you see here are really only a
picture of a picture that I took with my digital camera while visiting
at the Englewood Art Center

The Hermitage is a private non-profit retreat for international artists of all disciplines. It is open to the public for free events such as beach readings and open studios. All Hermitage artists offer free community outreach programs.
