These photographs are from the Charlotte Harbor Nature Festival event
that was held at the Charlotte County Sports Park, in Port Charlotte Florida 
on Saturday, January 29, 2005

This event was to benefit everyone on the planet !

The Nature Festival was a hands on experience that you could carry away.
They had nature exhibits and presentations on many different SW Florida
environmental issues, with kids areas, guided walks, wagon rides, raffle,
local artists, local authors and entertainment by local musicians

I started out in the kids area where there seemed to be a constant flow of young
inquisitive minds wanting to learn more about nature and the environment.
Above the kids learned several ways of how to identify animal tracks.

This Great Horned Owl sat in a cage where kids could get pretty up close and personal
and admire all the spectacular detail in his feathers while watching his huge eyes diolate
with each passing shadow.

Further down the fun zone, there was a big sand box filled with a  large variety of fossils
that kids could dig up and keep.  They could also get a microscopic view of incredible things like
a wasps face, a butterfly wing or curly proboscis (tongue)

Nature Art was provided by local artist and kids from Port Charlotte High School.

Mote Marine, The Nature Conservancy, Lemon Bay Conservancy and Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center
were just a few of the 100 plus environmental groups that were present.  And while much of their purpose
was to inform the public by passing out literature... many of their booths were really not that photographic.
But since they are still just as important to me and you and the environment, I've decided to make a list of the
sponsors and organizations that I found participating at this event, and I will attach it to the last page of my
photo coverage here along with some of my own best nature photographs to help keep your attention.

Please take a moment to browse their businesses and web sites and pass on their valuable information.
Donate or participate in their causes.  If you don't have the time... then sponsor a kid that does.
