The Palm Island Art Festival - 2008

The Art In The Palms event was held on November 8, 2008 on
Palm Island, on SW Florida's coast. This was only a one day event, but there was quite a crowd that showed up to look at all the fine art and collectibles. I was only there for a few hours, but managed to get some great pictures of some of the art and the artists that create it. Enjoy :)

The trip starts as is always does.. with a short ride on the Katie B Barge across the Intracoastal Waterway from Cape Haze to Palm Island.

Once across the channel, you were free to roam the festival.

Englewood Artist and wood carver Paul Raczka of Wooden Wonders carves these exotic underwater scenes as well as many different fish and bird shapes from solid wood. You can find lots more of Paul's work on his photo website at www.WoodenWondersbyPaul.com

Englewood Artist Angelika Gallant creates these Tree Spirit Sculptures.
Tree Spirits are thought to be friendly entities residing in trees with the noble purpose of aiding in personal development by spiritual enlightenment.

As I wondered the festival I found this booth with 3 kids telling me that everything they painted was "On Sale" at Island Time Treasures. So I asked for prices and asked for names and got Mom's approval to show them here. I like to see the kids taking an interest so thought I'd give them a few seconds of fame. Left to right:

This unfinished Octopus Painting is by Englewood Artist Kelly Reark.
