Located at 311 Taylor Street in Punta Gorda's historic district, Red Hat Studio was opened in 1999.  the original house was built in 1922 and was once the home of Allen B Tucker, now known for Tucker's Grade

With an association of about 40 artists, classes are offered in oil, acrylic and colored pencil.  Sessions are three hours followed by critique for the final half hour.  Various specialized workshops are part of the schedule including drawing as well as mural and stained glass design assistance,  Class size is limited to eight or nine artist per session with individual help and demos as required.  Artists at Red Hat Studio are consistently represented in juried/judged shows, including the 2004 and 2006 National Shows.  they are frequent prize winners and are associates of local galleries

Liz Hutchinson is the owner and teacher at the studio.  She is an award winning artist who was part of the original fund raising and building committees for the Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda.  Her work is held in private and public collections throughout the country.  During most summers, Liz travels on painting excursions - frequently as an associate instructor with ArtStudy Giverny in Giverny, France.
